Laura Liu is one of the brightest talents to emerge from Texas in recent years. She began her study of the violin at the age of 7 and debuted as a soloist with orchestra at the age of 13. Throughout her studies she has won top prizes in numerous competitions, including The Hubbard Young Artists Competition, The Dallas Symphonic Competition, as well as  The Music Teacher National Association Competition.

Her most recent accomplishments include The National Soloist Award at the 2007 Texas Bluebonnet Festival and The Grand Prize in the Dallas Symphonic Festival. In 2009 she was especially successful by winning two Grand Prizes in The Collin County Young Artist Competition, The Vernell Gregg Competition, and a first prize in The Juanita Miller TASO Competition.

She performed as a soloist with multiple orchestras in the 20080-02009 season including, The Houston Civic Symphony, The Great Wall Symphony of China and The Plano Symphony. After hearing Laura’s performance with The Plano Symphony, Conductor Hector Guzman invited her to appear as soloist with the Guadalajara Orchestra of Mexico.

Laura so impressed Maestro Jaap van Zweden, Music Director of the Dallas Symphony with her playing that he invited her to perform in a subscription series with the Dallas Symphony during the 2010-2011season. She has also won many accolades from esteemed musicians for her playing, most recently from Pinchas Zukerman. 

Laura is amassing a very impressive repertoire and is currently studying with Emanuel Borok, Concertmaster of the Dallas Symphony.
